H1N1 and MS. Well, at least one has a treatment and a cure. Let's just hope it's not MS. ADEM is hardly better, but an auto-immune disorder that attacks the brain and has no cure whatsoever scares me. I can't imagine what my parents are going through going from one hospital room to another, watching test after test, waiting for conclusive results. When this new neurologist said that MS was so obvious to her, based on his MRIs in the past, I can't help but wonder what the other doctors we went to were thinking? Why didn't they tell us? She thinks his condition is active, deteriorating - not static. All this time we've been treating his behaviour as if the infection or whatever was over, and now we find out that he's still sick and has been and this disease has been causing untold damage to his brain in the years since his original diagnosis. Not to mentin when he was first sick, no one suspected a neurological cause in the months of his complete change in behavior, until he went ape-shit in basic training. Maybe we really should overhaul the medical system.
